I loved Barbie dolls. I really enjoyed changing their appearance - tying their hair up with rubber bands or little clips. Barbie makeovers were fun; at least, you could change their hair (somewhat) or change their clothes. (This was before the Barbie with different hair lengths.)
One time, I decided to radically change the appearance of my mom's Barbie. From all the years of play, my mom's red-haired Barbie was losing chunks of hair. She had softer hair than my dolls, and I tried to do 'comb-overs' and buns. She still didn't look good, in my eyes. So, I cut her hair into a bob. I was fine with her cropped hair, though I'm sure my mom cringed with the new 'do.
By the way, if you want a great idea on how to fix Barbie's frizzy hair - which happens over time -- visit: Housing a Forest, where Tammy gives a how-to time on straightening Barbie's hair - love it! Now that I know the secret, I'll have to fix my wedding Barbie's hair, which is a bit frizzy.
My sister and I enjoyed playing Barbies together. We had our own dolls, but we shared accessories, like houses, cars, and bigger items.
I had a wide variety of clothes for my Barbie dolls. My mom used her sewing talent to create new fashions for our Barbies. Since my mom sewed dolls and stuffed animals as a part-time hobby/job, she had plenty of extra material to design super dresses, coats, rugs, etc. She enjoyed making new clothes for our Barbies. Since she sewed a variety of items, she had leftover material, perfect for our make-believe dolls. One time, she used the leftover material from a shaggy, stuffed dog to make a fur bedspread for our doll's bed. She'd tell us to pick the 'basic' doll because she could make new clothes and the extras. We moaned that we wanted all the accessories, but she'd remind us that those impossibly tiny earrings and shoes would always get lost.

The toy I love the most is my Barbie doll. My father gifted me a Barbie when I was four years old, for my birthday. Oh! What a lovely gift and I had a lovely birthday party too. Since then I stopped sleeping with my parents. I and my doll slept in my room. Until then I was scared to sleep alone. Now I have a friend. The only time I leave her is when I go to school. My Barbie has five dresses – a party wear, a night suit, a summer wear, a woollen winter wear and a business suit. I can also do my Barbie’s hair. There are many colorful clips for my Barbie. Her hair is long. There is a special smoothening comb. When I comb it doesn’t pain for her. All the dresses have matching shoes too. I like her party shoes as it looks like glass and it is similar to that of Cinderella. All my friends like my Barbie. She is very delicate. When I put her on my bed she closes her eyes. When I pick her up she opens it. So we both sleep together and wake up together. I love my doll. I promised her that we will be the best friends forever (BFF).
